Pure Speech

The mouth can be compared to a leaky faucet, allowing whatever is inside to come out. The Bible teaches that what is in our hearts will eventually be expressed through our words. This means that if our hearts harbor impurities, those will be reflected in our speech. Moreover, the Bible instructs us to guard our mouths, urging caution regarding our words. This suggests that God reasons with us and asks us to reflect on how we use our words. The purpose of our words should be to encourage others and bring glory to God. This concept is highlighted in Ephesians 4:29 which states, "Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear." In this discussion, we will explore what pure speech looks like for a follower of Jesus Christ.
