I AM the Light of the World

The Bible uses many metaphors to illustrate truths about who God is and His desire for people to turn to Him. One of the most infamous statements Jesus made was "I AM the light of the world." The Bible uses darkness to illustrate sin and separation from Him, where light is described as belonging to Jesus and being fully devoted to Him. Jesus asks us to walk out of darkness and turn to the light of the world for salvation and right living. Once someone turns to the Light, they are made a new creation, and His light fills our lives so we can become reflectors of His light to the world around us.
