Kill the Flesh

May 22, 2026    Mike McLeod

The Bible describes our flesh as the sinful nature present in all humans. When someone places their faith in Jesus as Lord, they become a new creation, and their sin is removed—cast as far as the east is from the west. Yet, even with this transformation, the influence of our sinful nature remains a reality. This ongoing struggle is one of the most challenging aspects of following Jesus: the feeling of being pulled in two directions. On one hand, there is a sincere desire to do what is right; on the other, the flesh resists, vying for control.

Jesus calls His followers to deny these sinful desires and pursue righteous living, following His own example. This week, we will explore the first enemy we face: our flesh. Together, we’ll learn what it means to “crucify the flesh,” and discover practical ways to deny its desires and live in the freedom Christ offers.
