“Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” Matthew 22:34-40

God tells us that we are to love Him first, and then our spouses. Our spouse is second only to God as we live together in a one flesh union. After that comes our children, and then everyone else, in His command to love others. God is not a God of disorder, but of order.

Because God knows what is best for us, He calls us to prioritize our lives and relationships in such a way that brings order and peace. It is a good practice to regularly examine our lives to make sure our schedules, commitments, and priorities align with the right order of our hearts of loving God first, and others second.

How much of a priority is seeking God together in your marriage? Why?

How would you like to see Him woven even more into your marriage?

Take a moment to pray for one another.
