God is Faithful

Faithfulness and truth are qualities that seem to be rare treasures in our world. Time and again, we have been let down by the unfaithfulness and lies of others. Phrases like “Will you take me to a game?” or “Are we going on a vacation?” and promises of unconditional love or lifelong friendship fill our minds with doubt and reluctance when entering into a relationship. If you are honest with yourself, you might also recognize your own shortcomings regarding faithfulness and trustworthiness towards others.

To have full assurance that someone is faithful and true, there must be clear evidence that their promises are rock-solid. Many years ago, God made a series of promises to Abraham, who responded with faith by trusting in the One who made them. Fast forward many years, and we learn from the Bible that every promise was fulfilled, demonstrating that God embodies the attributes of faithfulness and truth. This week, we learn that God is faithful and true, and there is no deceit in Him. We can lean into His promises and trust Him with all our hearts.
