God is Good
Good can be defined as the opposite of bad; it embodies the perfect or superior qualities required for a particular role and represents an ultimate standard of moral perfection. Human beings do not inherently possess this quality due to the corruption of sin, it is a quality exclusively reserved for God. Only through a relationship with Jesus can His goodness shine through us as we follow Him. God is pure, flawless, undefiled, and good in all that He does. His goodness is constant and unchanging.
However, many people struggle with the question: If God is good, then why does He allow evil and suffering in the world? Why do babies die? Why did I lose a family member? Why is there murder, rape, genocide, and natural disasters? The Bible states in Psalms 34:8, “O taste and see that the Lord is good; how blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him!” This week, we will explore God’s goodness and aim to answer the difficult questions that seem to challenge this remarkable attribute of His.
