A Home Built To Last

Oct 16, 2025    Steve Zervas

Every marriage is built on something—feelings, culture, convenience, or Christ. This session challenges couples to examine the foundation of their relationship: Are you building on the solid rock of God’s Word, or on shifting sand? Through Scripture and application, couples will discover what it means to hear and apply God’s truth in daily married life—especially when the storms of conflict, disappointment, or change come.

Discussion Questions:

Icebreaker: Do you and your spouse have the same taste in music? Who likes what?

1.   We learned tonight that we become anchored to the Rock by being both Hearers and Doers of the Word. Have 2 or 3 in your group share a story of how they grew in your faith by doing or serving that shows Jesus’ words to be true.

2.   How can we put this principle into action with our children or our spouse?

3.   Share a time when the strength of your faith saw you through a storm of life or how Jesus delivered you through such a storm.

4.   How is your faith visible to those of your household? Is this an intentional effort or is it just you being you?

5.   Take 5 minutes (i.e., be brief) to break into groups of 2 (3 if there’s an odd number), men with men and women with women and pray for each other to grow more anchored to Jesus the Rock.
