Wheat & Tares

Nov 3, 2021    Michael Fitzgerald

As we’ve examined Jesus’ parables, we’ve dug deep to understand the earthly and spiritual meanings. Hopefully, you’ve also worked to live out what you’ve learned.
This week we will test ourselves to determine if we are wheat, or tares. Are we blending into the weeds? Are we shining brightly as followers of Jesus?

Discussion
In this weeks parable, Jesus says the wheat was to remain among the tares . As a believer in Christ (the wheat) why does Jesus instruct us to remain among the tares (the unbelievers)?
What does somebody look like that is going to try and distract you from your walk with the Lord? How do you find yourself conforming to this person/"their advice”/their ways? Are you the person who is doing the distracting? Why?
How do you combat/respond to this person mentioned in question 2?
What is our end prize as wheat (go beyond the surface answer)? What is the consequence of staying a tare (go beyond the surface answer)?
