I AM Not a Heavy Yoke

Mar 20, 2025    Jeremy Luchenbill

As the Israelites encamped in the wilderness, Moses was burdened with caring for the people. He would sit from morning until evening surrounded by the needs of the people, and it was a heavy burden. But God sent his father-in-law to provide Godly counsel and offered a better way to carry the load God had placed on him. As we face the challenges of life and marriage, who have we surrounded ourselves with that can provide us with Godly counsel and carry the load? Whether in the Church or our life, God has surrounded us with people He has gifted to help carry the load.

Discussion Questions:

1) If you were raised in church, did your parents “force” you to serve more than you wanted to? Did your family serve together?

2) Have you volunteered to serve and later realized that ministry wasn’t a good fit for you?

3) Where is your passion to serve? Why?

(Follow up with Proverbs 16:3 “Commit your works to the Lord and your plans will be established.”) Encourage folks to pray about where and how to serve.

4) How are responsibilities divided between you & your spouse? Is it hard to stay in your lane? How does it make you feel when your spouse gets in your lane?

5) When you feel overwhelmed, what is a healthy way to decompress?
