Adults Receive the Word

When faced with the righteous standard of God through His Word, people generally respond in one of two ways. Some receive it with tender hearts, eager for teaching, reproof, correction, and training in righteousness so that they can be adequately equipped for every good work. On the other hand, others become hardened in their hearing; they quickly speak out against the truth and react with rage due to the conviction they feel. This week, James reminds us that mature followers of Christ are quick to hear the word of truth, slow to speak against it, and slow to become angry when they hear it. Followers of Jesus are called to put away all filthiness and to receive the word of truth, implanting it in their hearts. Do you humbly receive the word of truth?
