God is Joy

This week, we conclude our “God is” series by focusing on a powerful attribute: God is Joy. This is a fitting way to wrap up, since joy is something everyone longs for. Many believe joy is simply an emotion triggered by positive circumstances, but the joy God gives is much deeper—a lasting sense of contentment that is not dependent on our situation, but is a steady state for those who follow Jesus.

The Apostle Paul is a great example of this. Despite facing hardships—even imprisonment—he wrote that he had discovered the secret to life. His secret was being filled with God’s joy, regardless of what was happening around him. You too can experience this kind of joy, but it comes only when your relationship with Jesus is strong and deeply rooted.
