God is Lord
When someone confesses Jesus as Lord, as seen in Romans 10:9, they are asking Jesus to save their soul and are handing over the keys to their life, saying, “You are the Lord and master of my life.” This is not an obligation but a loving surrender and act of humility, believing that the God of the universe who saved me is fully capable and trustworthy to take control of my life. You’re saying, “What God does is best—take the pen, you write my story, and let me serve you as the master of my life.” You might think that sounds insane, and you wouldn’t be alone—most people would agree. It takes humility to make the bold statement Thomas made in John 20:28 after he saw the resurrected Christ: “Thomas answered and said to Him, 'My Lord and my God!’” This week, we look to Jesus as Lord and will explore what it truly means to make Him Lord of our lives.
