Adults Pray

People long for meaningful relationships. When someone finds that close, trusted person in their life, they naturally turn to them in all circumstances—whether in struggles, times of rejoicing, or seeking advice. Communication is essential to building and maintaining these relationships. As important as our earthly relationships are, there is no greater relationship than the one we have with our Creator. God desires us to come to Him with everything. Developing the habit of direct, honest communication with God deepens our dependence on Him and helps us mature in our faith as followers of Christ. While we are invited to bring all our needs and desires to God, some interpret this to mean that anything we ask will be granted so long as we ask without doubting. Although James seems to suggest this, our study this week will show that this idea is often taken out of context. Scripture makes it clear that when we pray, we are to do so according to His will.
