Faith trusts in God's blessing
The patriarchs Abraham, Isaac, and Joseph received specific promises from God, many of which were not fulfilled during their lifetimes. These promises were conveyed as blessings meant to be passed down to the next family member according to God's will. The word "blessed" is often used in various contexts, from someone wishing you a "blessed day" to expressions like "You are blessed to have so much," or "God bless you." Even people who do not identify with any faith use "blessed" in their everyday language. But what does this word truly mean in a biblical context and why is it important for us today? This week, we focus on Isaac, who, by faith, passed along blessings to his children, some being good and others not so much, trusting that they would be fulfilled in the future. Isaac received the ultimate blessing of salvation and an inheritance in Heaven because his faith was firmly rooted in the One making the promises. We will learn what blessings are passed down to those who believe in Jesus.
