Fix your Eyes on Jesus
Whenever you encounter the word "therefore" in the Bible, it's important to ask what it is there for. The Hall of Faith chapter concludes, and chapter 12 begins by reminding us that, because of all these faithful people, we are encouraged to run the race that has been set before us as followers of Jesus. We have explored many individuals who were counted as righteous by their faith and have seen numerous examples of what it means to truly have faith. At times, running our own race can feel overwhelming, but this passage offers God's followers encouragement and a guide on how those faithful believers persevered—and how we can do so as well. Followers of Jesus are called to fix their eyes on Him, the author and perfecter of our faith, and to remember what He has done for us. While many individuals acted faithfully, they looked ahead to the One who would fulfill everything perfectly. We must reflect on what Jesus has accomplished for us and anticipate what He will continue to do, as this perspective will strengthen our faith.
