Putting Off Our Old Selves
Paul calls believers to actively put to death the old sinful patterns that once defined their
lives and to embrace their new identity in Christ. Putting sin to death in marriage is not
about perfection, but about refusing to let sinful attitudes take root. As each spouse puts
off the old self and lives in their new identity in Christ, the marriage becomes a place of
greater safety, unity, and love.
