Walk Worthy

Jan 22, 2026    Jeremy Luchenbill

Because the gospel of Jesus Christ is bearing fruit and increasing among the Colossian church, Paul sends the believers at Colossae encouragement to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord. God intends spouses to bear fruit together, not just individually, and live as a couple who have been rescued, redeemed, and transferred into Christ’s kingdom.

Icebreaker: Finish the sentence:

One thing I thank God for in my spouse right now is_________________.

1.   In Colossians 1:9, Paul prays for spiritual wisdom rather than changed circumstances. How might that shift the way we pray for our spouse or our marriage?

2.   What does “walking worthy of the Lord” look like in our tone, words, and choices at home?

3.   Paul prays for spiritual wisdom, endurance, and joy before mentioning fruit. Why do you think fruitfulness flows from spiritual health rather than effort alone?

4.   Where does your marriage most require endurance or patience right now?

5.   Read Colossians 1:13-14. How does remembering God’s forgiveness help us extend grace to our spouse? What would that look like in times of conflict?
