Grace to you and peace from God our Father.
Colossians 1:1-2
Discussion Questions:
Icebreaker: Favorite Christmas gift or Christmas memory from this past Christmas.
1.When you hear the word “rooted,” what image or idea comes to mind for you personally or as a couple? What are you hoping God will grow or “root more deeply” in your marriage through this study of Colossians?
2.What does it mean to see your marriage as something that exists “in Christ”?
3.How does understanding your identity as “saints” (set apart by God) affect the way you view your spouse? How should it shape how we handle conflict?
4.Paul opens his letter to the Colossians calling on God to pour out His grace and peace upon the church. Read Ephesians 2:8. “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God.” Grace is God’s unearned, undeserved favor given freely to people who cannot earn it. In what ways do you and your spouse tend to drift from grace toward performance, pressure, or criticism?
5.How can you pursue peace in your marriage without avoiding important conversations or truth?
6.Paul writes to a church he had never personally visited, yet he cares deeply for them. What role does Christian community play in strengthening marriages?
