FELLOWSHIP - Love one another

Followers of God are doers! They look to Jesus as Lord, the Bible as guide, and pray for the Holy Spirit to direct their steps.

Sometimes, being a doer is not easy. At times it feels like you are the only one doing what is right. But followers of Jesus are not meant to follow Him alone. For doers, fellowship is essential. It is a spiritual discipline we must choose to practice, just like reading the Bible and spending time in prayer.

Fellowship is more than just having fun with other believers, but it definitely can (and should) be fun! Fellowship is intentional; it is the purposeful rubbing of shoulders with other believers for the sake of a mutual building up. When you are in the company of another doer, you leave encouraged, motivated, and refocused on your mission.

SCRIPTURES
Proverbs 27:17 | As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend.

John 13:34-35 | So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.

1 John 4:19-21 | We love each other because he loved us first. If someone says, I love God, but hates a fellow believer, that person is a liar; for if we do not love people we can see, how can we love God, whom we cannot see? And he has given us this command: Those who love God must also love their fellow believers.


DISCUSSION

1. John tells us that people will know that we are a follower of God by our _____ for each other.
2. We are supposed to love other followers of God like God loved us. What is Gods love for you like? How did He show His love to you?
3. What does loving other followers of Jesus look like? Do you love others in this way?
4. Reread Proverbs 27:17. What does it mean to Sharpen a friend? Do you truly love someone who is a believer if you are not sharpening each other? Why not? Who are you sharpening?
5. 1 John tells us that you cannot hate a fellow believer and love God. Is there someone you hold hate or anger against in your heart? If so, what should you do about it? Be a doer- take care of it today!
