GOD: Is all knowing

SCRIPTURES
Isaiah 40:12-14 | Who else has held the oceans in his hand? Who has measured off the heavens with his fingers?  Who else knows the weight of the earth or has weighed the mountains and hills on a scale? Who is able to advise the Spirit of the Lord? Who knows enough to give him advice or teach him?
Has the Lord ever needed anyone’s advice? Does he need instruction about what is good? Did someone teach him what is right or show him the path of justice?

Ezekiel 11:5b | “This is what the Lord says to the people of Israel: I know what you are saying, for I know every thought that comes into your minds.

1 Samuel 16:7 | But the Lord said to Samuel, “Don’t judge by his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. The Lord doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

2 Timothy 2:19 | But God’s truth stands firm like a foundation stone with this inscription: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and “All who belong to the Lord must turn away from evil.”

Romans 11:33-34 | Oh, how great are God’s riches and wisdom and knowledge! How impossible it is for us to understand his decisions and his ways! For who can know the Lord’s thoughts? Who knows enough to give him advice?

DISCUSSION
  1. Are there any limits to what the Lord knows? How does knowing God is omniscient (or all-knowing) help you trust Him?
  2. God knows your heart and thoughts. How does that make you feel?
  3. Is there anything you don’t want the Lord to see in your heart or mind? What can you do about that?
  4. The Lord knows everything, including who truly belongs to Him as His follower. 2 Timothy 2 tells us God knows those who are his  — does that include you? How do you know?
  5. Sometimes we don’t understand God’s instructions or plans for us, but God knows everything! Do you trust His ways, even when they don’t make sense?
