SIN - Where does sin come from?

Genesis 2:15-17 | The Lord God placed the man in the Garden of Eden to tend and watch over it. But the Lord God warned him, “You may freely eat the fruit of every tree in the garden— except the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. If you eat its fruit, you are sure to die.”

  1. What purpose had God given Adam and Eve in the garden?
  2. What was God’s one law for Adam and Eve in the Garden?

Genesis 3:6 | The woman was convinced. She saw that the tree was beautiful and its fruit looked delicious, and she wanted the wisdom it would give her. So she took some of the fruit and ate it. Then she gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it, too.

  1. What was the sin of Adam and Eve?
  2. Why did they choose to disobey God?

Romans 5:12 | When Adam sinned, sin entered the world. Adam’s sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned.

  1. What was the result for every person after Adam and Eve because of their sin?
  2. Think back to their original purpose. While living in sin, could Adam and Eve fill God’s purpose for them?
  3. How does sin get in the way of God’s purpose for you personally? (Be specific by  thinking about when you feel most and least used by God).
