SALVATION - Faith changes how you live

Romans 10:9-13 | If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved. As the Scriptures tell us, “Anyone who trusts in him will never be disgraced.” Jew and Gentile are the same in this respect. They have the same Lord, who gives generously to all who call on him. For “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

  1. What does it mean to openly declare something?
  2. What does your life declare is important to you? Think about how you spend  your time, what you talk about, etc.
  3. What does it mean for something to be Lord of your life?
  4. In what ways does your life declare that Jesus is your Lord, or the most important thing to you? What ways, if any, does it show that other things or people are more important than God? What will you change?

John 14:15 |  “If you love me, obey my commandments.

  1. God’s followers love Him. This also means they should do what according to John 14:15?
  2. Why would a love for God make us want to obey Him?
  3. Do you love God? Do you want to obey Him? In what ways do you struggle to obey?

1st Peter 2:22-25 | He never sinned, nor ever deceived anyone. He did not retaliate when he was insulted, nor threaten revenge when he suffered. He left his case in the hands of God, who always judges fairly. He personally carried our sins in his body on the cross so that we can be dead to sin and live for what is right. By his wounds you are healed. Once you were like sheep who wandered away. But now you have turned to your Shepherd, the Guardian of your souls.

  1. Part of the reason Jesus died on the cross was so that we could be  dead to sin and live for  what is right. What does it mean to be dead to sin?
  2. In what ways are you living for what is right?
  3. What in your life needs to change so that it is indeed dead to sin and/or living for what is right?
