ESSENTIALS: Crave Spiritual Food Pt. 1

SCRIPTURES
Colossians 2:6-7 | And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him. Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.

Psalm 42:1-2 | As the deer longs for streams of water, so I long for you, O God. I thirst for God, the living God. When can I go and stand before him?

1 Peter 2:1-3 | So get rid of all evil behavior. Be done with all deceit, hypocrisy, jealousy, and all unkind speech. Like newborn babies, you must crave pure spiritual milk so that you will grow into a full experience of salvation. Cry out for this nourishment, now that you have had a taste of the Lord’s kindness.


DISCUSSION

1. What does it mean to crave or long for something?
2. According to our verses today, what are we supposed to crave and long for as followers of God? Do you crave these things? Why or why not?
3. The more we grow in Christ, the more we want to grow. Spend some time in prayer today asking God to help you grow spiritually this year. As you do, ask Him to help you crave His Word and to long for more of Him in your life.
