GOD: Is love

SCRIPTURES
1 John 4:7-10 | Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God. But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love. God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.

John 3:16-17 | “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.

Ephesians 2:4-5 | But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!)


DISCUSSION

1. Love isn’t just part of God’s character, it is who He is. Because God IS love, how does He view you?
2. How did God show His great love for you?  
3. Because God IS love, He didn’t wait until we deserved His love to send Jesus. Do you think you can earn more of God’s love? Why or why not?
4. With God’s great, unconditional love for you in mind, do you view yourself the way God sees you? Do you believe that you are lovable? Why or why not?  
5. Spend some time today thanking God for His great love. Ask Him to help you see yourself the way He sees you.
