GIVING - Heart Check!

SCRIPTURE
Matthew 6:21 |
Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.

Hebrews 13:5 |
Do not love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.

1 Timothy 6:9-10 | Yet true godliness with contentment is itself great wealth. After all, we brought nothing with us when we came into the world, and we cannot take anything with us when we leave it. So if we have enough food and clothing, let us be content.

But people who long to be rich fall into temptation and are trapped by many foolish and harmful desires that plunge them into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. And some people, craving money, have wandered from the true faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows.

Psalm 4:5 | Offer sacrifices in the right spirit, and trust the LORD.

DISCUSSION
1. Where are you investing or storing up treasure?
  • Does your investment and treasure line up with what you want your heart to be set on? If not, how will you change this?
2. How are you storing up heavenly treasure and investing in godly things?
3. Instead of loving money, the Bible tells us to be satisfied with what we have.
  • What do you have?
  • To you, is that enough? Are you satisfied or do you want more?
  • What does this show about your heart?
  • What does this show about your trust in God?
4. How can loving money get you off track in your walk with God?
  • Do you ever let the need for more money get in the way of following God first? In what ways?
5. Do you trust the Lord enough to give to Him? How do your actions reflect this?
