FASTING - Jesus satisfies

SCRIPTURES
Psalm 63:1 | O God, you are my God; I earnestly search for you. My soul thirsts for you; my whole body longs for you in this parched and weary land where there is no water.

John 6:35 | Jesus replied, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry again. Whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.

John 4:13-14 | Jesus replied, “Anyone who drinks this water will soon become thirsty again. But those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again. It becomes a fresh, bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life.”

Matthew 5:6 | God blesses those who hunger and thirst for justice, for they will be satisfied.

DISCUSSION
  1. Jesus calls Himself the bread of life and living water. He says that if a person eats or drinks of Him, they will never be hungry or thirsty again. What does Jesus mean by this?
  2. Have you experienced satisfaction in Jesus or do you still crave other things more than Him?
  3. How can fasting reset your focus on desiring God more than anything else?
  4. Jesus tells us to hunger and thirst after what in Matthew 5:6? What does this look like?
  5. Do you hunger and thirst for righteousness more than anything else? If not, what do you desire more than righteousness? How can you fast from that and pursue righteousness instead? Be a doer and put this into action!
