SCRIPTURES
1 Corinthians 11:26 | For every time you eat this bread and drink this cup, you are announcing the Lord’s death until he comes again.

Isaiah 53:7-11| He was oppressed and treated harshly, yet he never said a word. He was led like a lamb to the slaughter. And as a sheep is silent before the shearers, he did not open his mouth. Unjustly condemned, he was led away. No one cared that he died without descendants, that his life was cut short in midstream. But he was struck down for the rebellion of my people. He had done no wrong and had never deceived anyone. But he was buried like a criminal; he was put in a rich man’s grave. But it was the Lord’s good plan to crush him and cause him grief. Yet when his life is made an offering for sin, he will have many descendants. He will enjoy a long life, and the Lord’s good plan will prosper in his hands. When he sees all that is accomplished by his anguish, he will be satisfied. And because of his experience, my righteous servant will make it possible for many to be counted righteous, for he will bear all their sins.

Mark 14:22-26 | As they were eating, Jesus took some bread and blessed it. Then he broke it in pieces and gave it to the disciples, saying, “Take it, for this is my body.” And he took a cup of wine and gave thanks to God for it. He gave it to them, and they all drank from it. And he said to them, “This is my blood, which confirms the covenant between God and his people. It is poured out as a sacrifice for many. I tell you the truth, I will not drink wine again until the day I drink it new in the Kingdom of God.” Then they sang a hymn and went out to the Mount of Olives.

1 Peter 1:18-20 | For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And it was not paid with mere gold or silver, which lose their value. It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God. God chose him as your ransom long before the world began, but now in these last days he has been revealed for your sake.

1. The book of Isaiah was written hundreds of years before Jesus’ birth and death. Why might God have used the example of a lamb when talking about the coming Savior?
2. In what ways did Jesus fill the prophecies about the coming Savior from Isaiah?
3. From Mark 14, in what ways did Jesus’ death “confirm the covenant (promise) between God and His people?”
4. When do you think God started planning sending Jesus to be the sacrifice for our sin? (Read 1 Peter 1:20)
5. What does Gods planning and gift of Jesus show us about what He thinks of us?
