NO EXCUSES RECAP - Fruit

SCRIPTURES
James 1:22 | But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves.

COLOSSIANS 1:9-10 | So we have not stopped praying for you since we first heard about you. We ask God to give you complete knowledge of his will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding. Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while, you will grow as you learn to know God better and better.

John 15:1-8 | “I am the true grapevine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch of mine that doesn’t produce fruit, and he prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more. You have already been pruned and purified by the message I have given you. Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me. “Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing. Anyone who does not remain in me is thrown away like a useless branch and withers. Such branches are gathered into a pile to be burned. But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted! When you produce much fruit, you are my true disciples. This brings great glory to my Father.

Galatians 5:22-23 | But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!

DISCUSSION
  1. What have you done to grow closer to God over the last few months?
  2. How has this changed who you are, what you do, or what you struggle with?
  3. What kind of fruit (or evidence) should be seen in the life of a Jesus follower? (Galatians 5:22-23)
  4. Is your life full of the fruit of a true Jesus follower? If yes, in what ways. If not, why?
  5. Go through each fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5:22-23.
  • How are you doing in each area? Have you gotten stronger or weaker in each area over the last few months?
  • What do you still need to work on and how will you be a doer about it?
