NO EXCUSES RECAP - Keep growing to stay on guard

SCRIPTURES
James 1:22 | But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves.

Colossians 2:6-8 | And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him. Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness. Don’t let anyone capture you with empty philosophies and high-sounding nonsense that come from human thinking and from the spiritual powers

2 Peter 3:17-18 | You already know these things, dear friends. So be on guard; then you will not be carried away by the errors of these wicked people and lose your own secure footing. Rather, you must grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. All glory to him, both now and forever! Amen.

Ephesians 4:14-16| Then we will no longer be immature like children. We won’t be tossed and blown about by every wind of new teaching. We will not be influenced when people try to trick us with lies so clever they sound like the truth. Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church. He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love.

DISCUSSION
  1. How do you keep doing growing in you walk with God?
  2. According to our Bible readings today, what does growing with God guard against?
  3. Have you ever let your guard down as a Christ follower? What was the effect of that in your life?
  4. Think through the disciplines we have covered these last few months. Which ones can help you grow and stay on guard as a follower of Jesus?
