SCRIPTURES
Romans 8:28 | And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.

Isaiah 53:2-3 | My servant grew up in the Lord’s presence like a tender green shoot, like a root in dry ground. There was nothing beautiful or majestic about his appearance, nothing to attract us to him. He was despised and rejected— a man of sorrows, acquainted with deepest grief. We turned our backs on him and looked the other way. He was despised, and we did not care.

John 1:10-13 | He came into the very world he created, but the world didn’t recognize him. He came to his own people, and even they rejected him. But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. They are reborn—not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God.

DISCUSSION

1. The Promised Savior was someone the Jews waited for with great anticipation or excitement. According to today’s readings, would the Jews accept Jesus as the Promised Savior? Thinking through New Testament accounts about later in Jesus’ life, in what ways was Jesus rejected by the Jews (Pharisees and Religious leaders)?
2. The Jews were waiting for a great King. How did Jesus not meet these expectations?  
3. Jesus wasn’t a king during his time here on Earth, but He is called the King of Kings. Why is this?
4. The Bible says that Jesus will sit on the throne and rule for all eternity. It also says every knee will bow before Him. When will this take place?
5. Are you ready for Jesus’ return and reign as King? Why or why not?
