NAMES OF JESUS: Savior

SCRIPTURES
Isaiah 62:10-11 | Go out through the gates! Prepare the highway for my people to return! Smooth out the road; pull out the boulders; raise a flag for all the nations to see. The Lord has sent this message to every land. “Tell the people of Israel, ‘Look, your Savior is coming. See, he brings his reward with him as he comes.’”

Luke 2:10-12 | But the angel reassured them. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people. The Savior—yes, the Messiah, the Lord—has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David! And you will recognize him by this sign: You will find a baby wrapped snugly in strips of cloth, lying in a manger.”


DISCUSSION

1. One name for Jesus is Savior. What is a savior?
2. God’s people waited a long time for the Savior to be born. They knew they desperately needed Him. Do you have the same attitude desperate need for Jesus as your Savior? Why or why not?
3. When the Promised Savior arrived, people were so excited. Do you have this same attitude of excitement and joy?
4. When people realized Jesus was the Promised Savior (Shepherds, Nathaniel, Peter, etc.), they told everyone. Do you readily share Jesus with others or are you quiet about the Savior? Why?
